Shiocton qualifies 8 to sectionals and it appears not one wrestled at team sectionals.

We really need to get the WIAA allow the second place team to wrestle if the first place decides not to wrestle to win no matter the odds. Maybe they are hurt, sick or saving them for individual sectionals, let the second place team represent.

Sad showing by Shiocton. Guess they were afraid to challenge themselves and at least try to compete with Stratford.

We need to encourage the teams that show up despite the odds. Lakeland wrestled L-C tonight and got hammered. Last year we got curb stomped by L-C. It's not easy to take that beating but it is honorable. I understand the temptation to leave your best wrestlers out. That doesn't help our sport or the wrestlers. Coaches need to think long term. We got schooled but we talked to the kids about it before and after. Sometimes you need to fight the good fight. Not because you will win but because it's what you are supposed to do. That's what a warrior does. That's what happens in life.

Hold there what if those sectional qualifiers got hurt and missed the opportunity to wrestle to go to state. How honorable is that? Just asking?

Then they should forfeit the Regional win and allow the 2nd place team to compete.

Do they FF their semifinals match to stay healthy for the wrestleback?

That is what this all about, nice job Lakeland!

Doesn't that risk exist every time you step out on the mat?  Numerous kids (HS and collegiate) get injured during practice every year.  Should they not practice the week before individual state as well?  Come on.
