Aquinas and Three Lakes are the two obvious glaring weak regionals.

These figures do not include the following wrestlers, as they could not be located:

3   Dyllon Johnson, Boyceville - State in 2016
3   Cody Frederick, Boyceville - State in 2016
3   Reece Heidmann, Edgar - State in 2016
3   Sawyer Theobald, Shiocton - State in '17, '16 (6th), & '15

Maybe, but when  you have two regional powerhouses like Coleman and Stratford that plan on taking a full bus to State every year, they are beating someone else's regional. I have no idea what teams are even in that regional, they may be weak but perhaps they could actually beat teams from say the Dodgeland sectional that doesn't have multiple powerhouses like the other 3 sectionals have.

Several of the weight classes at 3-Lakes have one or two wrestlers in it. This is a good case for combining Regionals amd taking the top 4 to sectionals.

So the regional will add more team to the regional than what was in the NLC conference championship. That team may have 4 more wrestlers.

NLC Tourny

4 weight classes had 1 wrestler
5 weight classes had 2 wrestlers in them
4 weight classes had 3 wrestlers in them
1 weight class had 4 wrestlers

How many teams in that conference?

There are 5 and it is the same thing for regionals, but they add Crivotz who has 5 kids. This regionals has sent byes to sectionals and wrestlers with losing record to sectionals without winning a match.

The returning state qualifier from the 3 Lakes regional now wrestled for Coleman.  If the Wiaa cared anything about regional wrestling teams this would have been fixed switching a few teams around...but they don’t.

It is likely, highly likely, that 3 brackets at the 3 Lakes Regional this year will send a bye to sectionals. Huh

Unfortunately, 3 other wrestlers will be left home and out of sectionals somewhere else....

People complain about the D2 North East regional sectional, but this is by far the worst situation. Sending byes to sectionals is unacceptable.

Wabeno/Laona coop
Crandon
Florence
3-Lakes
Elcho

Crivitz will join them in the Regional and like was posted they only have 5 wrestlers maybe.

It's been this way for some years now at least 4 years. The last year they had good State representation was Wabeno-1 , Crandon-2, Florence-1, Three Lakes-1  5 years ago

Ram - throw in a weaker and smaller (by number) Crandon team and a smaller by number L-W team and the conference-regional really suffers.  I know the NLC Conference tourney is never a "must see", but I was floored by the serious lack of numbers this year. Sad  30 wrestlers spread out over 14 weight classes should force the conference into considering if this truly is worth the finance to put it on any longer....

Projections show even lower numbers next year with really low Jr High participation.

There are plenty of ways it could be fixed sending a team to that regional to fill the weight classes and WIAA has been notified in the past but they basically replied that it didn't matter to them.
