Five For Friday: Wrestling
BY PAUL D. BOWKER | OCT. 14, 2016, 12:01 A.M. (ET)

James Green, a 2015 world bronze medalist, and Alex Dieringer, a three-time NCAA champion at Oklahoma State, headline a group of seven U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers competing this week in the 2016 Intercontinental Cup in Khasajvurt, Russia.

Green, also a silver medalist in the 2016 Pan American Championships, will compete in the 70 kg. weight class Sunday. He won gold medals in the Freestyle World Cup and Grand Prix of Spain.

Dieringer qualified for the U.S. Senior National Team for the first time after his third-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. He will compete in the 74 kg. weight class on Saturday.

Other U.S. freestylers are Nico Megaludis and Alan Waters, 57 kg.; Kyven Gadson, 97 kg.; and Bobby Telford and Nick Gwiazdowski, 125 kg. Waters placed fourth at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and was a 2016 Dave Schultz Memorial International champion.

Intercontinental Cup champions will receive nearly $2,400 in prize money.
