Angry Fish, are you lobbying Tom for a promotion, or something?   Grin

A poet laureate (plural: poets laureate) is a poet officially appointed by a government or conferring institution, who is often expected to compose poems for special events and occasions.

It's an old Bob Dylan song. But IMO, the Grateful Dead did a great cover:

Like you, I tend to deal in sarcastic humor.  Yes, it's an "oldie, but goodie."   Grin

"Maggie's Farm"

I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
No, I aint gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
Well, I wake up in the morning
Fold my hands and pray for rain
I got a head full of ideas
That are drivin' me insane
It's a shame the way she makes me scrub the floor
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother no more
No, I aint gonna work for Maggie's brother no more
Well, he hands you a nickel
He hands you a dime
He asks you with a grin
If you're havin' a good time
Then he fines you every time you slam the door
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's brother more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more
No, I aint gonna work for Maggie's pa no more
Well, he puts his cigar
Out in your face just for kicks
His bedroom window
It is made out of bricks
The National Guard stands around his door
Ah, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's pa no more.

I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more
No, I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more
Well, when she talks to all the servants
About man and God and law
Everybody says
She's the brains behind pa
She's sixty-eight, but she says she's twenty-four
I ain't gonna work for Maggie's ma no more.

I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
I aint gonna work on Maggie's farm no more
Well, I try my best
To be just like I am
But everybody wants you
To be just like them
They say sing while you slave and I just get bored
I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more.

If/when I ever run for office, I will make sure I contact Mr Dale Einerson!!!!!

Sorry guys he is on my list of very smart guys that may understand the system quite well.

BigG, your on that list also, handles the words and if it gets heated he can pipe in some good, key words to say to make the situation alot more calmer!

maggie, yes your in also!!!!!!! though while we are cool and like to hang, your not writing any speeches for me Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin if I did that I would have to have ghetto be that guy in the lower left or right corner doing some inter pations! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Though I need you around to talking wrestling and smart!!!!!!

Fish would also be very good. Well rounded in many aspects
AF,,,,,,take care of the light work
TomM,,,,to senor and get my web sight rolling
whatever for some good humor and since he is such a fan of certain wrestlers I know he can drum up support.
Ride, well I might need a driver and since we are close then..........then you can invite me to your garage. O by the way I have a draft party every spring you in this year?

So many more but I will say that if someone needs me to help, all I am really good for is to stand around with some shades on and look tough and at my age it is more of "look at that old fat guy thinking he still got it!". I dont really bring to much to the table unless it is an all you can eat style table setting Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Please, run for Governor.  If you run as a Dem, or Rep, I don't care,  I will vote for you...

We need common sense, somebody who understands the ratio of 2 ears to 1 mouth; is honest while making tough decisions.  The truth is, the budget is always under pressure and every angle thinks they need more, or at least, can't do with less.  Tough decisions, always.

But, honest, fair, in tune with the voters.  Go for it.  You can get all the help you need on things like budgets...just form an advisory board to deal with all of the areas you require shoring up.

Your campaign slogan could be something like: "No stupid, unenforceable promises, just honest and open decision-making.  The well-being of the population is more important than any party or special interests; I will always remember that and always try to make the best decisions for our State."
